Nails do not have lungs
Caption:
Nails do not need to “breathe.”
This is one of the biggest myths clients hear, and it usually makes them feel like gel is the problem.
The truth is, your nail plate is made of keratin. It does not absorb oxygen from the air. Everything your nail needs comes from the nail bed underneath, through your blood supply.
So when nails feel thin, weak, or sensitive after gel, it is usually not because they needed a break.
It is usually from overfiling, rough prep, aggressive removal, or picking the product off.
Healthy nails need the right technique, proper prep, and safe removal.
That is why choosing the right nail artist matters.
Save this for the next time someone tells you your nails need to breathe.
